Kristiansand is situated by the sea at the southern tip of Norway, 322 km southwest of Oslo.

Travel by plane

Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik is the main airport for Kristiansand, and it is situated just outside the city centre. It is a relatively small airport, but offers direct connections to these following international hubs: Oslo, Copenhagen, London, Amsterdam, Gdansk and Alicante. 

It is also possible to fly to one of the following airports, and then continue by train or bus to Kristiansand:

Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (367 km away)
Stavanger Airport, Sola (232 km away)

Why not cross the ocean to Kristiansand? There are ferries going from Hirtshals in the very north of Denmark.

Travel by car

You can easily go by car to Kristiansand. Just remember if you are not living on the Scandinavian peninsula, you would either have to cross the Øresund-bridge from Copenhagen to Malmø, Sweden, or bring your car with the ferry departing from Hirtshals in Denmark.

Be aware that parking in Kristiansand may be expensive.

Eat

We recommend that you order the festival meal package offered by our festival hotel, the Clarion Ernst Hotel. You will get lunch and dinner for NOK 250,- a day. You can order the meal package when you book your room - see Sleep! You could also buy the festival meal package, even if you stay at another hotel. Lunch (NOK 125) and dinner (NOK125) can be bought at the hotel reception (at latest 10:00 the same day).

Kristiansand offers a rich variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. You will find anything you crave, but of course we think you should try the Scandinavian cuisine while visiting us!

Be aware that Norway is an expensive country. Especially prices on alcohol and tobacco are high. We recommend that you bring your taxfree quota when entering the country.

Our festival hotel, the Clarion Ernst Hotel, is about to be fully booked. They might have some rooms available, especially towards the weekend. The Clarion Ernst Hotel is situated in the city center, only a 5 minutes walk from the Kilden Theatre and Concert Hall.

If you are willing to stay just outside the city center (15-20 minutes by bus), you should take advantage of the very reasonable offer from Åros Feriesenter. Here you can stay in an apartment or cabin for 2-4 people for only NOK 1050 (€ 108) per night per unit. You have to pay an additional NOK 120 (€ 12) for bed linen. The resort is placed by the beach, and has its own pool. The apartments and cabins have 2 separate bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and TV. Åros Feriesenter is beautifully located by the sea. There are buses going to and from Kristiansand twice each hour.
